KEPCO Builds Microgrid Facilities in Mozambique

(2015-11-20) The state-run Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) said Friday that it held an event in Mozambique on November 13 celebrating the completion of microgrid facilities in the African country.

The facilities, built as part of KEPCO’s first overseas microgrid project, will provide electricity to around 50 households and schools in a rural village.

Small back-up power systems, microgrids use renewable energy, such as solar power, and control the use of energy with a comprehensive energy management system.

In South Korea, KEPCO runs a microgrid project on Gasado Island in Jindo County, South Jeolla Province.
