(2015-09-29) Unconfirmed information reports a new confrontation between government forces and Renamo guerrillas. The alleged attack, whose contours are not yet known, allegedly occurred less than twenty-four hours ago (on Sunday 27 September) in Morrumbala, Zambezia province.
Given the current political and military tension that Mozambique is going through in the recent days, many voices come forward calling for an urgent meeting and an open and frank dialogue between the head of state, Filipe Nyusi, and the Renamo leader Afonso Dhlakama.
Without mentioning the alleged new attack in Morrumbala, the spokesman for Renamo, Antonio Muchanga, told the press on Monday early afternoon, that “Afonso Dhlakama is in the bush, in good health and with the party under control, and that he calls on party members not to retaliate the attack he suffered, because that would be playing the game of those who want to kill him.”
Meanwhile, the minister of Combatants, Eusébio Lambo already promised the former combatants that everything will be done so that the country does not return to war.
