Mozambique-Italy Chamber of Commerce opens in Maputo

(2015-07-14) A new Mozambique-Italy chamber of commerce was inaugurated Friday in Maputo, as part of a consolidation of ties between the two countries intended to extend to business relations.

Bilateral chambers of commerce have proven successful in leveraging and developing business relations between entrepreneurs through the strengthening of dialogue, facilitating business opportunities in both countries.

As ‘Noticias’ reports, the new chamber is chaired by Simone Santi, with Maria de Assunçao Abdula and Niamoto Chipande sitting as deputy presidents. During the ceremony, Santi said that he was honoured by the confidence shown in him by the offer of the chair, and that he had accepted the position with all due gravity.

Santi noted that both the Mozambican and Italian business sectors are composed mainly of small and medium enterprises, and that “the chamber will serve as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and the establishment of business partnerships.”

The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique, speaking through its deputy president, praised the establishment of the chamber and welcomed the opportunities it would afford for businesspeople from the two countries to pursue bilateral opportunities.

In turn, Lourenço Sambo, Director-General of Investment Promotion Centre, said that his institution also would be open to providing any support the chamber might need to attain its objectives.
