(2015-06-02) This year Metal Bulletin’s African Iron Ore Conference re-emerges as the African Iron and Steel Conference in Mozambique. This is a reflection of the exciting occurring investments that could dramatically impact steel making and iron ore demand in the region.
Mozambique has the potential to be a standard setting example of how to make the most of iron and steel in Africa, and, with Mozambique’s new Presidency, it is the best time to hear what the government has in store for its power and manufacturing sector.
This two-day conference in Maputo will address topics such as how to achieve low-cost iron ore production, the impact of iron ore pricing on projects and infrastructure investments, government policy on iron and steel, regional outlook for growth and industrialisation, and logistical and infrastructure investment trends in fast-growing African economies such as Mozambique.
Conference speakers will include senior representatives from Ministry for Trade and Industry, Government of Mozambique, Baobab Resources, MCC International, KfW IPEX-Bank, South Africa, SMS group, Turkish Steel Exporters’ Association, Bryanston Resources, Steel and Engineering Industries Federation of Southern Africa (SEIFSA), Elco Steel, South African Institute of International Affairs, Zanaga Iron Ore, DAMCO IMEA, Paul Wurth and Danieli.
In addition the main conference, delegates will have the opportunity to participate in a field trip to Baobab Resources, and a practical pre-conference workshop on setting up steel mills.
